Another Sunday, another course in Western New York and a pretty new one
at that. I bet it plays better when it's a little more dry; if such a
condition exists here. Buffalo is experiencing a warming trend and
things were soggy out there, though still no shortage of ice and snow.
There were lakes of frozen ice, in fact, on a couple of the back 9 that
are just going to be lakes of water for a long time after the ice has
melted.
The white tees were mostly well marked with stakes, though the stakes
were either missing or buried under a six inch sheet of ice, which
you'll see later. There are blue, white and red marker stones, but
almost all of those were hidden by the snow. All the signs are there,
thankfully, and it's relatively easy to locate the next hole. If
there's a complaint I have, it's that the walk between 7 and 8 is way
too long and runs along side the fairways for 1 and 2.
I left my Diablo DT in the water hazard on 10 after having a great
drive. I thought I could make it over from where I was, but I came up
just short. There was no sign of it when I got to the other side and
retrieved the second disc I threw, which still landed in the water, but
lazily floated until I could get a hand on it. I almost left a shoe
getting it back, having sunk into the mud, but I decided I needed that,
too. Double-circle 7 on that hole. It would be fun to sit near some of
the water holes and watch the two-disc-carrying, overhand chuckers
plunk one in the river and laugh your ass off. We need more deep water
hazards at PVP.
They have some technical holes which run close to the road and so have
mandos to keep you from hucking it in the road. As usual, most of the
holes here play probably par 3 regardless of what the signs say, but I
only managed a trio of them. I could have played a little smarter and
tossed a little harder on my upshots, excepting hole 18 which you'll
see. I had a few great drives, but missed some easy putts. This is
another nice course that I'd like to see in better conditions.

The Travelling Bag in person!

Here we see the two states
of Buffalo while I was there. Wet and frozen.

Mando to the left of the tree on the right.
Well marked even.

Basket that way. Also, mando.

This is a nice hole to air out your right-hander flick.
Big hole where hitting things off the
tee can end very badly.

View from the 8's white tee. I think the basket's somewhere in
this shot.
Seemingly
innocuous hole. Not pictured: Immense lake of ice.

The aforementioned immense lake of ice. Sucks to be you if you
land here.
Longest hole on the course. I
crushed a drive to about 150' from the water.

Picture from my drive. In the center is the tree that sank my
Diablo DT.

The lighthouse, I presume.

Terribly hard to find the white or red tee for the ice.
This be the ice. The 4" thick ice
sitting off the ground and possibly hiding the white tee.

The geese are special disc retreival geese. Fortunately, I didn't
have to use them.
There are two ways to get at this basket and two ways only.

A perfect end. After slogging it all day, there was nothing I
wanted more than the easy drop in for 3.
