Blue Heron Disc Golf Course
Grand Island, NY

PDGA Course Link

It's a pretty nice course. All concrete tees, nice and wide for those who take a little more room. It's all pretty open though and would definately count as all par 3 holes, especially if you count Elk Creek as all par 3! The big arms among us would have no problem on most holes, but you don't have to have a big arm to air one out. That's a nice feature on this course.

I would have to compare this course to Peaks View except more open and a little longer. There are a couple of tough, technical holes, but easy deuces are not out of the question and most of the holes are definately easy threes. There's water all around, but there's only one hole, hole 9, where it's really in play. It's a big annie to the left of a lake with nothing but tall brush on the right if you happen to yank it. The basket is hidden in a small clearing and took another wide, easy anhyzer to lay up.

The disc was good, but it was a little chilly with wind gusts dropping shots out of the air. My first round out, I shot an embarrasing 73. Not bad, I guess, for the first round on a new course, but I was able to easily trim my score to 68 for the second round. It's worth a go if you're in the Buffalo area.

Plenty of geese around here.                                                           Straight down the hill, but never quite as easy as it looks.

Scenery of the Niagara River.                                                                                        Hole 2, another straight shot.  Just don't yank it right.

Uphill to a plateau and longer than it looks.                                     Hole 4: Big downhill.  Throw however you want, there's nothing there.

You can see the stumps of the three trees that used to block anything but a big anny.       Keep it low and straight and you'll have no problem.

Looks like a mando for the sake of any passing cars.

Beautiful hole.  Keep 'er straight because left is bushes...                ... And right is trees.

Hole 9 brings the pain for righties.  Going big hyzer is only for big arms because if you're short, you're lost.  Going big anny requires just as much guts.

Hole 10 is a much needed easy hole after looking for your disc on 9 for half an hour.

Hole 11 with a mando.  You'll be fine as long as you don't let the trees intimidate you.

Hole 12: Up the hill and long. Air it out, you've got space.

Hole 13: About 30 feet ahead and to the right of the small tree it looks like it's next to here.

Hole 14: Long with some options.  Never tried the anny route, myself.

Forgot to take a picure of hole 15, but it's a long, straight, level shot with a couple of big trees nearby

Hole 16:  A good flick or a great turn over shot around the edge of the forest.

Hole 17: About 20 feet behind the large tree in the center with a drainage ditch nearby.

Hole 18: Long.  Hyzer gap or big anny gap for the gutsy.  Or over...

Good look at the hyzer gap and red tee.
